Plans are underway to convert a former Salvation Army store into a Dollar General retailer in Reedley, CA. Commercial real estate developer Simon CRE recently purchased a property at the intersection of 10th Street and F Street and will begin the redevelopment next month on the building.
This is the second Dollar General project for SimonCRE in the state of California this year. The new store will open in the first half of 2014.
“The City of Reedley has been a pleasure to work with throughout the entire purchase process,” says Joshua Simon, president of SimonCRE who is managing each aspect of the project. “The planned building updates will be completed this spring so that Dollar General can efficiently serve the growing Reedley area. We are happy to repurpose an existing structure, turning it into something that will be a great benefit to the entire community.”
Dollar General is the largest small-box discount retailer in the country and is prominent in 40 states. With more than 10,000 retail locations, the chain offers the most trusted consumer brands to its customers. In a saturated market competing with mass retailing giants like Walmart and Target, Dollar General is leading the pack of low-priced mass merchandisers according to a recent industry analysis by Kantar Retail. The national chain recently beat out Walmart and four other stores on a product by product cost comparison with a selected basket of goods.
SimonCRE is a preferred developer for the Dollar General national retailer with plans to partner on additional locations this year, particularly in California markets. The development firm has successfully completed projects across the country, adding value to hundreds of communities throughout the United States.
