On Thursday, signs went up advertising the closure of JCPenney in the Pine Ridge Mall with a storewide sale. People who visit the location before it closes will be able to find items discounted from 20% to 50% off.
Chubbuck Mayor Kevin England tells EastIdahoNews.com he believes the retailer’s last day in operation will be in May. JCPenney has not yet responded to our request for comment.
Rumors spread online that Target was moving into the mall, but England tells EastIdahoNews.com the company has not confirmed plans to set up shop in Chubbuck. SimonCRE, a commercial real estate and development firm, is working to redevelop the mall into an open-air retail center.
“That’s been exaggerated a little bit, but there’s certainly been talk (of a Target),” England said.
