The University of New Mexico Board of Regents has approved the conveyance of approximately 38.06 acres of university-owned land to SimonCRE, a Phoenix-based commercial real estate developer, for the creation of the proposed Lobo Crossing Shopping Center. The site is located on the west side of University Boulevard, south of Sunshine Terrace and north of Gibson Boulevard.
This catalytic project directly supports the objectives of the South Campus Tax Increment Development District (TIDD), which was established to fund critical public infrastructure and foster economic development in the area. With Board approval secured, Lobo Crossing moves forward as a major component of UNM’s long-term vision to transform South Campus into a vibrant sports, entertainment, and innovation district.
Planned as a 363,000-square-foot open-air retail destination, Lobo Crossing will be anchored by a leading national food and general merchandise retailer. It will also include approximately eleven junior anchor tenants and 45,000 square feet of space for small retail and restaurant operators. Site access will be provided from University Boulevard and Alumni Road, with regional connectivity via Gibson Boulevard and Avenida Cesar Chavez.
