Scottsdale-based SimonCRE is getting ready to start construction on a new major retail corridor in Surprise.

The developer plans to break ground on the first phase of the Asante Trails retail development during the first quarter, representing an initial $50 million investment for 50,000 square feet of shops.

It's part of the larger 90-acre mixed-use project that will anchor the Asante master-planned community and feature a new HonorHealth hospital across 20 acres, housing across 26 acres and 35 acres of additional retail development.

Retailers confirmed for the first phase of the project include popular concepts Farmer Boys, Jimmy Johns and Baskin-Robbins, as well as neighborhood services such as Circle K, Dip Nail Bar, heartland Dental and Clean Freak Car Wash. About 19,000 square feet of the first phase is available for lease.
